Record-breaking £3.7 million raised for RNID
This picture was taken from co-op site
Is it just me that thinks there is something wrong with this picture?
As someone told me why are they advertising doing NHS services ?
I have posted a comment on Flickr where the CO-OP proudly display their achievement (click here) only to be met with a typical standard reply which they havent really answered the question.
All this is done free on the NHS which I had blogged about which can be found (here) , and your occupational health does hearing checks .
Makes you wonder where £3.7 million really goes?

They aimed to raise £2 million for the RNId and together they were launching Hearing Matters, a national campaign to ensure that in future everyone over 55 is invited to have their hearing screened on the NHS.
If you click on the hearing Matters link, it says it doesn’t exist?
You don’t need an invitation to have your hearing screened if you feel that there is something wrong with your hearing..go to your G.P. for an audiology referal and you have the right to have your hearing checked, no matter what your age is!
I Lobbied the Co-OP against raising money for the RNID unless they CO-OP actually asked where the money would be going, apparently they raise money for charities and never ask what for. I told them of the deaf view and the negativity of the RNID against the deaf and they said “We raise money for good causes, it is not our place (?) to tell the Charities where they should spend it !” Unbelievable !
When I persisted they sent me 4 pages of RNID bumbf… I sent it back to them. I suggested the Co-Op was unethical in raising money for the RNID as deaf people did not approve of where the money went, were not consulted, and the RNID was NOT using the money to give work to deaf people OR mounting campaigns of deaf awareness.
The Co-Op took no notice at all and handed over more than £2m If they use that sort of attitutude to raise money and give it away,I am putting in for it next time, to raise funds for disadvataged deaf by the RNID. Why doesn’t the BDA do a damn thing about it ? Have they no-one at the BDA who can lobby for dosh or what ? In reality the RNID did NOT specify what they needed money for, just “To assist the 1 in 7″… Never mind hearing matters, do not deaf people matter ? NO they don’t.
You DO realise you have just given the RNID MORE publicity ? I Prefer name and shame personally !
If I had the time like you do, I would sit and name all the people in deaf history that have put degrees of shame upon us. But history is history and I’d like to look forward to a fairer and honest RNId and to do that we must look at forward thinking, and taking fair consensus
Sadly we cannot possibly do this as people still remain to be brainwashed and misguided into unfair representation.
To name individuals is a waste of time, we need to move lemons with lemon juice, provide constructive feedback and highten awareness.
The reason why the co-op don’t pay any attention to what deaf people tell them is because they see us as not clever enough to understand their “correct” way of doing things and believe that the RNID with their glossy veneer, know what is best for us.
RNID help hundreds of people every day. what do you want RNID to do for you?
RNID help themselves every day while deserting deaf people. Latest example:
http://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/news/latest-news/1191-rnid-confirms-welfare-rights-team-to-be-axed
Quote:
“The move, and the failure to consult more widely with service users, will leave the RNID open to criticism that it appears to be placing corporate income above the needs of its members.”
The story so far: RNID barely employ any deaf people, they refuse to train them up and now will not even help them with benefit claims!
Hear to help themselves.
